Colliding Rivers Apparently, when the waters are high, this is quite the site. It's one of the few places in the world where two rivers collide head on. Straight ahead, the North Umpqua River comes towards the convergence where it meets the Little River, which is coming from just out of view to the right. They then rock on down what we believe is still called the North Umpqua off to the west until it dumps in to the Pacific. Since there wasn't much in the way of winter rains and mountain snow melts on this sunshiny August afternoon, we just sort of stretched our legs and took this photo for you. |
